What Exactly Does a Naturopathic Doctor Do?
Advanced Medicine. Relentlessly Personalized.
Naturopathic doctors (NDs) are licensed physicians trained to diagnose, prevent, and treat health conditions while looking at the whole person, not just the symptom in front of them. Our approach considers not only what you’re experiencing now, but also what’s actually driving it.
At One Living Clinic in Ferndale, WA, we practice naturopathic medicine through an integrative approach, pairing deep clinical expertise with elegant, scientifically based technology to give each patient a plan built around their own biology and goals.
More Than Symptom Management
When you come to us with a health concern, we want to understand the full picture, not just treat what’s on the surface.
Your medical history, nutrition, lifestyle, stress levels, sleep quality, environment, and lab findings can all play a role in your health. Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, our team draws on decades of clinical experience to identify what’s truly behind your symptoms and build a treatment plan around it.
A Team Committed to Growth
Our team brings decades of clinical experience to every visit, but we don’t consider that experience a finish line. We’re committed to ongoing education and continually upleveling our skills, so the therapies we offer stay current with where the science is heading, not where it used to be.
That same commitment shows up outside the exam room too. Many of our practitioners also train other providers, sharing what we’ve learned so the standard of care keeps rising across the field, not just within our own clinic. Whether we’re working with a patient or training a fellow practitioner, we bring the same level of care and excellence to the exchange.
What Can a Naturopathic Doctor Do in Washington State?
In Washington State, naturopathic doctors have a broad scope of practice. As licensed NDs, we can:
- Diagnose and treat disease
- Perform physical examinations
- Order and interpret lab testing and imaging
- Prescribe medications
- Provide injections and IV therapy
- Use nutritional, botanical, lifestyle, and other therapeutic approaches within our scope of practice
In practice, this scope lets us go further than a standard visit. Say a patient comes in with ongoing fatigue. Instead of stopping at a basic panel, we can order comprehensive lab work, look at nutrigenomic factors that may be affecting how their body processes nutrients, and build an IV therapy or supplement plan around what we actually find, all within one office. The breadth of our license means fewer referrals, fewer gaps, and a plan that’s shaped by a full picture of your biology rather than a single data point.
This lets us combine a wide range of medical tools with industry-leading technology, all while keeping the naturopathic focus on prevention, individualized care, and supporting the body’s own ability to heal.
What Does “Integrative Medicine” Mean at One Living Clinic?
Integrative medicine, to us, means something more than offering a menu of therapies. It means we research and implement the best of the best, then combine them in ways that amplify each other.
Take EBOO ozone therapy as an example. On its own, it’s already a powerful way to support detoxification and circulation. At One Living, we don’t stop there. We stack EBOO with Weber photobiomodulation, layering red light therapy into the same session so the body gets the benefit of both at once, rather than receiving each therapy in isolation.
Even the smaller choices matter to us. We use only the finest filters in our equipment, because the quality of a single component can change the quality of an entire treatment. These are the kinds of details that are easy to overlook and easy to cut corners on, but they’re exactly the details we won’t compromise on.
This is what integrative really means at One Living Clinic: not just access to advanced therapies, but the expertise to know how to combine them, and the standards to make sure every piece of the process meets the same bar.
Depending on your goals, your care plan may include nutrition and lifestyle guidance, lab testing, IV therapy, peptide therapy, EBOO ozone therapy, PRP and regenerative treatments, laser therapy, or other specialized options.
We don’t believe every patient needs every treatment. Our expertise is in knowing which tools actually make sense for you, and how to combine them for the best possible result.
